3. Recent Events Debrief:
- November 14-16: AOTA Student Conclave
- Ann Borrenson & May Chou reported that 10 students went from USC, which was the biggest turnout from anywhere except the Midwest. She said it was an excellent conference and networking opportunity. Several students are running for office. The leadership scholarships and getting the word out are essential to keeping USC involvement in the conference.
- Historian Cohort Photos
- Heather and Leila reported that cohort photos went well. Photos will be posted after finals.
- Fundraising T-Shirt Sales
- Amy reported that tumblers, tote bags, t-shirts and sweatshirts have been ordered. Most of the pre-ordered t-shirts have been handed out. There will be another order next semester. The profit is about the same as last year.
- November 9: Pedal Pushers
- May Chou reported that 8 people attended the event to build the bikes. There was a lot of interest in the event.
- LOTA/International Chairs Spanish Night
- Sarah Chang reported that the event went great. There were students and faculty present speaking all levels of Spanish. Kristy Seaver added that the event was very popular with the faculty. Monica Stephen asked if people would be interseted in other languages.
- November 6: Interdisciplinary Health Fair
- Rachel Fontana, Cindy, and Karen Ni discussed that the Health Fair went well. Great opportunity to discuss OT.
- November 23: Faculty/Student Potluck
- Karen Ni reported that the event was really nice and there was plenty of food. It felt warm and intimate. This would be a great event to do again, but maybe not so close to finals.
- November 14-16: OT Beach House Trip
- Jennifer Chen reported that the trip was a really nice opportunity to spend time in one place all together. 20 OT students attending and they’re expecting 42 people to attend the Vegas trip. If you would like to attend the Vegas trip, please RSVP by Dec 1st.
4. End of the Year Party
5. Student Centennial Commitment
- Yasi Anamat reported that we are trying to get 100% participation in donating $1 for AOTA’s float 2017 Rose Parade. Last year, we were able to get 100% participant with cohort reps who asked each person to donate a dollar. Dr. Bream and Dr. Rafeedie in the point person for this.
- Cohort A Reps: Amy & Heather
- Cohort B Reps: Ann & May
- Cohort C Reps: Jodie & Jen
- MA-1: Chad Hilmo
- Phillip Lin explained that the Student Centennial Commitment is a pledge to stay involved in AOTA after graduation. Many students do not stay involved with AOTA after graduation, and this is what we are trying to change.
6. OTSC presence on campus
- Maggie Rosenberg stated that the 1st years discussed raising OTSC awareness on campus. Next Monday morning we will be handing out candy canes with notes saying “Good luck on finals! -OTSC.” We’ll be using our own funds to purchase the candy canes. Another fundraising idea would be valentine grams available for $1. Yasi came up with an idea of a photo booth fundraising idea as a possibility for next Fall. Feel free to contact Maggie with any ideas you think will promote OTSC presence on campus.
7. Committees
- International Forum: will begin meeting next semester
- OT Month in April: will be all the first-years. Kristy Seaver will help with communication.
- End of the Year Party: This committee will be active next semester.

- AOTA's Representative Assembly Forum (the "Congress" of AOTA that makes our profession’s policies): Collaborated with OTs from all 50 states in reviewing motions and voting on whether to accept as official documents statements such as a revised "Philosophy of Occupational Therapy Education" paper which was submitted by AOTA's Commission on Education, an education-related policy group that USC faculty have been active on past and present.
- Motions approved for The Philosophical Base of Occupational Therapy Education and Complex Environmental Modifications documents.
- Motions not approved for Motion Seating and Wheeled Mobility.
