o OT
24 hour virtual exchange. I am throwing the idea of a 1-2 hour session (around
5-7 pm) on the 29th at one or two of the classrooms (aside from where OT 620 is
going on) where all students who are available can participate in the
conference together so that you can have a live experience of what it is like.
Casual is totally fine for dress code, as I have seen photos of students
from some OT programs across the globe wear PJ’s to join the conference in
their classrooms. Also, a benefit of this is that it can give students
who have not been to any OT conference before a sampler (since it’s free) on
what they may expect in a future OT conference they may attend some day.
o Document
on our drive about OTalk/Occhat (TWITTER)- Again, I know this better than
anyone else in the room. This is related to professional development.
It is something students can participate weekly on the live portion of
the chat on Tuesdays. I think it’s a great experience because you can get
to talk to OT professionals and students, nurses, social workers, and/or even
“service users” who might benefit from OT services. Who might show up
will depend on the topic. I posted some ground rules for the chat on the
shared drive. It will be shared to all students “in the near future”.

October 27th we have an awesome opportunity to attend a Halloween
Party at the home of Jaynee Taguchi-Meyer (the OT Fieldwork
Coordinator). It starts at 5pm and her home is in Buena Park, near
Knotts Berry Farm. The party includes dinner and Jaynee would love
to have you there! The party is an annual tradition
that has been held with OT students and OT House residents for the past several
years. If you have been thinking about attending the Knott’s Halloween Haunt,
this is a great way to start off your evening.

Difference Day involving various community service tasks). We are also
encouraging OT students who are unavailable to be involved by promoting OT in
their involvement in whatever they do in the day.

o Arranging
a meeting with GSG Finance Director (Rohan) for Tuesday to discuss how we can
use our funds. Questions we are asking: how much is our budget for the
year, do we have to use 25% of our umbrella funds in the first semester to be
eligible for funding in the second semester, can we use the entirety of our
budget for the end-of-year celebration as in years past?
