  1. Fall 2017 Meetings - Mondays from 12:00-12:45pm in CHP 112 (Attendance is mandatory; email Co-Chairs (Sarah and Rachel) if you have to miss. Spring meetings TBD)

  2. Recent Event Debrief:
    • Aug.21 - Club Fair
      • 1st years feedback: make it easier to talk to the 2nd years on the committee
    • Sept. 16 - Potluck Party!
  3. Upcoming Events:
  1. Agenda Format: should be completed by the Sunday before our meeting
    • Updates: Please write exactly what you want to be included in the minutes.
    • Discussion items: We usually allot 5 minutes to go over each discussion topic.
  2. OTSC Email/Google services
    • Gmail account:  
      • Access: everyone can use it, but keep login info private!
      • Etiquette:
        • Keep emails professional! Everything can be seen by everyone on the council. Other business may be handled on Facebook.
        • Sign emails with your name and position on OTSC.
        • Remember to check back in to the inbox for responses.
        • Try to limit the number of emails sent.

  3. Committees
    • Open to all students in the Chan Division
    • Fundraising
      • All help is welcome!
    • International Forum
      • April during OT month. Speakers with international experience discuss their practice in the field
      • Planning will begin Spring semester
      • Contact Phil if you would like to help
    • OT Month
      • Events aimed at raising OT awareness
    • End of the Year Party
      • Planning will begin in December
      • Need help spreading the word, fliers, announcements, ticket sales
  4. Creating OT Student Organizations
    • If you’re interested in starting a student organization talk to our faculty advisor
      • The creation of new student organizations by OT students must be under OTSC, which serves as the umbrella organization for all OT organizations (i.e. PTE, LOTA, Engage). These organizations would have access to funds through OTSC. If you would like to create an organization, talk to Dr. Chu and Dr. Rafeedie.

  • Hurricane Harvey Candy Gram Fundraiser Recap (Thank you Eddie for printing the grams!)  
  • October Philanthropy Events:
  1. Wednesday October 11th or Friday October 13th: Making  burritos with Share a Meal to give to people experiencing homelessness in downtown. Date TBD.   
  2. Friday October 28th: Volunteers needed at OC Fair to carve 100 pumpkins! Contact Marcy: Marcy.Crede@ocparks.com to volunteer.

  3. Guest Lecture with Alumni who will discuss about the power we have as clinicians and our job to bring hope to others and how trauma influences the parent/child/therapist relationships

UPDATES:
  • Finance Orientation will be presented at our next meeting on how to get reimbursed and submitting a Purchase Order (PO).
  • Until then, any questions regarding reimbursements and PO’s can be directed to Lina and Nicha through email (linayoo@usc.edu , thumwani@usc.edu )
  • Applied for and received Organizational Funds for the Fall semester.  
  • Keep budget and use funds for lunch during meetings
