UPDATES:
- USC has a new app “Mindful USC”: where you can listen to recorded meditations, sign up for classes and take quizzes based on how you’re feeling that day which will then provide you with an applicable mindfulness training.
- Patrick Prince: He is an advisor to the University who has been hired solely for the purpose of preventing an active shooter incident. He is examining a campus wide policy for potentially postponing exams on the day of even false alarm active shooters.
- Hired because of the incident that occurred on the UPC campus last fall.
- Trojans Care for Trojans: mobile app where you can submit the name of a student that you are concerned about or if you feel that they need to be provided with resources.
- Title IX: federal guidelines changed in 2017- in 2011 universities had 60 days to remediate all Title IX cases. However, with the 2017 new mandate, the guidelines now have no timeline among other more flexible laws for university reportings.
- GSG voted to approve the Title IX resolution so that USC will still be held accountable to upholding the 2011 guidelines and reporting deadlines, similar to other universities across the nation.
- USC is one of the universities currently being investigated for not adhering to the precious Title IX investigation period. GSG also hopes the university will accept our motion and provide extended funding, or subsidized cost, for survivors seeking resources.
- Travel Grant Updates: there is a new application portal for travel grants. There is up to a 50% reimbursement for airfare + lodging + registration, IF we are making a contribution to the conference (presentations, research contributions, etc.).
- Deadline to apply is up to 14 days before the conference and final expenses must be submitted up to 14 days after the conference.
- GSG is a secondary funding resource
- GSG Finance:
- Nov 5th is the last deadline for events up to February 18th. See their website for more information.
