Undergraduate Representatives Candidates

 Undergraduate Representative Candidate

Kayla Gan

Hello lovely OTs! My name is Kayla and I would love to have the pleasure of serving you all as the Undergraduate Representative for OTSC. A little bit about me: some of my favorite occupations have been editing travel videos (after studying abroad last spring in Bilbao, Spain!!), practicing hand lettering, and scrolling through Cool Dog Group/Dogspotting Society of Facebook. I fell in love with OT when I learned about the importance of a person’s narrative in their therapy. I love hearing others’ stories, and I have learned a lot simply by hearing the OTs in years above me talk about their experiences and recommendations for how to maximize and enjoy each semester in the program. I have seen how these OTs can be a valuable resource in preparing the OTs of following years for each upcoming phase of the BS-MA program. However, I also noticed how difficult it can be to build these relationships and connections between the different cohorts, especially between the undergraduate and masters students. As your representative, I hope to program events to help bridge this gap, and make the undergraduate concerns heard by those ahead of us in the program. I thrive when dealing with the logistics and organization of event planning, and I have a lot of experience in programming and being a liaison since my time in student government to today as an RA. Let me be your voice amongst the large, overwhelming graduate division, and remember, OTs fight on!
