GENERAL UPDATES

Internal Business

1.      Spring 2018 Meetings - Mondays from 12:00-12:45pm. Attendance is mandatory; email Co-Chairs (Sarah and Rachel) if you have to miss. Spring meetings - Meeting dates are as follows:
       March 19th in CHP 112
       Vote for “celebratory” lunch for last meeting (April 9th).
       Potluck instead of bought lunch.
       Google sign-up sheet will be sent out.
       Bring in lunch for March 19th meeting.
       April 9th in CHP 112

       Monthly newsletter
       An e-newsletter will be sent out to the student body since bulletin boards cannot be used
       First e-newsletter will go out sometime prior to next meeting
       Internal events document circulated to OTSC board - please complete and reference
       Debrief retreat with first year counterparts next year to talk about responsibilities:
       Keep a day/afternoon free in mind for next year
       Write a one page protocol to pass down to first year counterparts; write during summer
       Ask second years to begin protocols and first years provide feedback
       Protocol templates by 2nd years due by April 9th (next meeting)
       Completed protocols could be posted on OTSC website

COUNCIL ITEMS BY POSITION

       Faculty Liaison (Wesley & Jesse)
              DISCUSSION:
       Create Google doc of scheduled events and then bold the events that have been completed
       Event recap of each position could be helpful
UPDATES:
       Next Faculty Meeting on April 13th (last one for the Semester)
       Faculty & Student Brown Bag on March 26th postponed due to schedule conflict. New Date TBD
       First faculty & student brown bag lunch was successful
       OTSC Suggestion Box: Will provide suggestions to Dr. Gray and schedule meeting.
       Coordinating with Dr. Taguchi-Meyer regarding a debrief event of 1st year students with 2nd year students that are assigned to the same first Level II fieldwork positions

       Fundraising (Eddie & Melinda)
DISCUSSION:
       T-shirt sales ramping up, looking at 2 shirt colors and samples
       Approximately $20
       Cinnabon Fundraiser
       Sometime in April
       Advertise to faculty as well
       Approximately $4
       Possible game or movie night with a food truck
       Pair with Professional Development movie night event
       Approximately $15-20 per ticket
 UPDATES:
       T-shirt design contest winner announced on March 9th
       Currently working with design manufacturer
       Candy apple sale generated $79 in profit

UPDATES:
       GSG Meeting this coming Thursday 3/22
       Great Gatsby-themed Yacht Cruise event hosted by GSG
       Friday, March 30th at 8:00pm
       Lottery for Dodgers tickets

       Will send out email request for photos for EOTY party slideshow
       Continue posting pics/updates/links
       Also post on USC OTSC Facebook page

       International Relations (Phil & Carlos) MAI: (Josh)
              DISCUSSION:
       International Forum date changed to Monday April 2nd, 4:00-6:00pm
       Location: Room 112
       RSVP via FB event page to order correct amount of food. Banh Mi Sandwiches and water budget: $100 - $200 depending on RSVP
       Include a cutoff date to RSVP
       Budget: $200 (voted and approved)
       Presentation of international externships from 2nd years

       Undergraduate Representatives (Christine & Angela)
UPDATES:
       Undergrad + Grad social finalized- 3/22, 6pm VKC 106
       Organized with Pre-OT club; waiting on head count
       Budget for food: $100 (voted and approved)
       Panelists
       5 panelists confirmed
       Faculty - Dr. Bennet is interested

       OTAC Representative (Kaitlyn & Evan)
DISCUSSION:
·        Spoke with Dr. Rafeedie and we are cleared for letter writing party in April.  Event will be publicized in coming weeks.
UPDATES:
       Letter writing party moved to April 16th to avoid a conflict on April 23rd.
       Can we vote to have OTSC subsidize pizza? Since it’s a USC event, not an OTAC event we are having at USC, we can’t accept their offer to pay for pizza.

              UPDATES:
       AOTA conference: April 19th-22nd
       Winners of AOTA Raffle: Breanna Howell and Karen Lai
       USC will participate in AOTA/NBCOT Knowledge Bowl at conference!
       March 29th - Last day to register for AOTA conference for 4 days,  $299 to register

       Social Chair (Trisha & Jackson)
DISCUSSION:
       EOY party committee
       Start contacting DJ, photo booth, etc.
       OT/PT event at Angel City Brewery on 3/29 at 5:00pm
       Budget: $50 (voted and approved)
UPDATES:
       Venue is booked: The University Club in Pasadena
       EOY party is May 4th
       Will be meeting with Director of Catering this week to discuss appetizer menu and confirm other details for EOY party
       Appetizers - Mac & cheese bar, flatbread station?
       Ticket sales begin 1 month before event

       Philanthropy (Henna & Elissa)
DISCUSSION:
       Older adult and USC HSC Daycare collaboration:
       April 16th-20th: Dance party or yoga event
       Looking for older adults that can volunteer for this. Leads?
       Already contacted Andrus volunteers from USC Gerontology and Los Angeles OASIS.
              UPDATES:
       Philanthropy committee of 25 members!
       OT Month philanthropy events
       Series of 5 events in the month of April to raise OT awareness through philanthropic efforts. Marketing will come out later this week. Volunteers needed.
       April 2nd - Ambassadors will discuss events during class.
       “Battle of the Cohorts” - Winning year/cohort will receive a crepe party with Dr. Rafeedie and Dr. Chu (so will top 5 participating faculty and staff)
       FITE Night Screening and Panel: Education as a means to end Recidivism - in conjunction with Chan Division, Gould School of Law, Cal State Northridge, and GSG
       Health Pavilion at Festival of Books 
       MOSTe Mentorship Program (Chan Division hosting 200 middle schoolers and their mentors): April 14th 9am-1pm
       Hygiene Kits for Painted Brain: April 1st-16th
       Packaging kits on April 16th
       Nursing Home activity

       Professional Development (Delaney & Catherine)
UPDATES:
       Working on establishing the following events:
       Kelly’s Hollywood (Brian Donavon)
       Breana Wiles (LGBTQ experience, USC School of Social Work)
       Ana Sanchez (OT student, living with a mental health condition)
       Korean Developmental Disabilities Center (KDDC), Screening for Korean-American children ->pending faculty involvement
       Dates are TBD, and details have not yet been negotiated.

UPDATES:
       Deposit for EOY party venue has been made! Yay!
       However, as a result, current pool for budget is limited (~$2-3k) so please spend conservatively. Request for more funds has been made, waiting on Erika for confirmation.
